Terra Tile & Marble provides custom fabrication of natural soapstone. Soapstone is one of the few natural stones commonly fabricated into countertops and fireplace surrounds. This naturally quarried stone is a metamorphic rock that is named for its soft, or soapy surface feeling due to the presence of talc. Architectural-grade soapstone has a lower talc content which makes it more suitable for countertop fabrication. And while it is not as hard as granite or marble, it can be easily cut, shaped, and installed.

The Many Benefits of Soapstone
Soapstone is a naturally occurring product – one not produced with harsh environmentally damaging chemicals, or obtrusive earth extractions – removing the worries of toxins in your food-friendly environments. And it is highly recyclable too! Looking for a non-staining kitchen countertop? Consider Soapstone. Its non-porous surface means the end of worry over spilt liquids, wine, vinegar, coffee and more. Soapstone, a non-porous stone, does not require chemical sealing making it even more environmentally friendly. Soapstone is also highly crack resistant, offering longevity and low maintenance of natural food-grade mineral oil treatments. Any scratches are easily removed with a light surface sanding. Soapstone’s high heat resistance makes it equally ideal as counter material for a cook’s kitchen or a cozy fireplace surround.

Subtle Yet Elegant
Natural soapstone occurs in palettes of greys, soft white and a deep charcoal color. The pattern variation runs from subtle to more pronounced quartz flecks and veining structures. So, while the colors are limited, the benefits are not. Designers praise soapstone for its uniqueness and overall versatility from farmhouse kitchens to highly modern installations. If your preference is for natural stone – then you should be placing soapstone at the top of your list. Its rustic charm and simplicity add natural beauty and uniqueness to your home.
