This naturally quarried stone is a metamorphic rock that is named for its soft, or soapy surface feeling due to the presence of talc. Architectural-grade soapstone has a lower talc content which makes it more suitable for countertop fabrication. And while it is not as hard as granite or marble, it can be easily cut, shaped, and installed.
